Trail & Recreation
creates new Recreational and Open Show program: Collect awards for
participating in activities with your American Quarter Horse
Do you take part in non-MQHA shows, events and activities with your
American Quarter Horse? Then join the Minnesota Quarter Horse
Association’s Recreational and Open Show program, where you can earn
cool awards like trophies and medals for your involvement with your
American Quarter Horse.
How it works:
Track points for exhibiting your registered AQHA horse in non-MQHA
events (4-H, WSCA, etc.) as well as participating in a variety of
other recreational, educational and volunteer activities. You can find
the complete details at mnqha.com/recreation
• Between 1 and 9 points per horse show class (see program enrollment form for details)
• 5 points for every volunteer activity with MQHA
(Help at a MQHA show, committee membership, Tack Swap volunteer)
• 5 points every time 100 hours is achieved in the AQHA Horseback Riding Program
• 2 points for every organized equestrian event where
horse and handler participate – example: Clinics, organized trail
rides, exhibitions, MQHA Boot Camp, etc.
• 2 points for every MQHA show you attend as a spectator/supporter
Then submit your point total for activities and competitions spanning
from Jan. 1-Oct. 31, 2016 and you’ll receive a trophy and a medal based
on whichever level you achieve:
• Bronze level: 25-49 points
• Silver level: 50-99 points
• Gold level: 100+ points

However, if you’re not yet a member of MQHA, join today by completing and mailing in the the 2016 Membership application at mnqha.com/membership.
• The cost to become a new member is $40. Please add
the $10 Recreation and Open Show fee to your total, for a total payment

need to do is submit your points.
Your MQHA membership will be good up through 2017, and comes with a
number of perks and discounts, including saddle club membership for

when you participate in the Recreational and Open Show
• If you plan to participate in Amateur or Youth
MQHA/AQHA events you will also need to pay an additional $15 and note
this on the membership form.
